Bismarck, ND ---- Rodeo cowboys will share their short stories for the N.D. Cowboy Hall of Fame’s 20th anniversary social and silent auction on Wednesday, December 30th at the Bismarck Elks. Established in 1995, the Hall of Fame hosted a series of signature events this year to celebrate its founding. This year-end gathering, open to the public, will start at 5:30 pm with complimentary food and beverages. NDCHF past president Phil Baird of Mandan will lead off the short program talking about the origins of the Hall. Former Miss Rodeo North Dakota Ellen Thomas-Huber will introduce the new 60th anniversary Miss Rodeo North Dakota pageant book. With his unprecedented fifth PBR stock contractor of the year award, Chad Berger of rural Mandan will talk about his rodeo plans for 2016 Professional Bull Riders season. An open mike will allow rodeo cowboys to share their memories about North Dakota rodeo icons who recently passed away. These include Ray Gilstad, Keene; Mervel Hall, New Town; Joe Harrison, Fort Yates; Duane Howard, Minnewaukan; Lee Selland, Bismarck; Jamie Childs-Ring, Mandan and Yvonne Young-Mushik, Bismarck. A silent auction will make available older rodeo photos, posters and exhibit memorabilia from the NDCHF Center of Western Heritage & Cultures in Medora. Sponsorships and funds raised at the social will be matched by another volunteer group. The event will close with the introduction of the 2016 NDCHF Parkway Ford truck raffle, one of the major fund-raising efforts of the Hall.
