Criteria

2010 RANCHING DIVISION

1 Modern-era Rancher Inductee
1 Pre-1940 Rancher Inductee
1 Ranch Inductee

The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame will honor in its Hall of Honorees, Ranching Division, individuals and ranches who were or are instrumental in creating and developing the ranching business, traditions and lifestyles of North Dakota’s western heritage.

CRITERIA

Nominees must be individuals or specific ranches or ranching operations that have made significant contributions to the development and promotion of ranching or western lifestyle. Individuals nominated for this category must be at least 50 years of age or deceased. Ranches or ranching operations must have been in operation for at least 50 years. Two individuals will be selected for the Hall of Honorees in the year 2010. One of the individuals nominated and selected must have been engaged in ranching prior to 1940.

NOMINATION AND SELECTION

Any North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame (NDCHF) Trustee may submit nominations to the Executive Director of the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame. An official nomination form and good quality photo must accompany all nominations. Actual nominations may be submitted at any time, but must be postmarked on or before Saturday, January 16, 2010. Those selected for induction into the Hall of Fame must receive the votes of at least 50 percent of the total number of Trustees casting votes. The number of inductees should not exceed the limit set by the NDCHF Board of Directors (two ranchers for year 2010). The Board of Directors will screen nominations before submission to the NDCHF Trustees for a final vote.

AWARDS

Inductees will be announced by the NDCHF on Memorial Day Weekend, will be formally inducted on Saturday, June 26, 2010 and will have their names, photos and histories displayed in the Hall of Honorees, Ranching Division.


2010 RODEO DIVISION

2 Modern-era Rodeo Contestants
1 Pre-1940 Rodeo Contestant

The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame will honor, in its Hall of Honorees, Rodeo Division, individuals who, through their participation in America’s only original sport, have distinguished and brought honor to themselves and the sport of rodeo.

CRITERIA

Individuals will be recognized for their achievement and competitive participation in and of rodeo and rodeo events. Recognition can be achieved through high school, college, state and professional rodeo associations. Honorees must be at least 50 years of age or deceased and must have upheld the traditions of the western lifestyle in an honorable manner to be eligible for induction. Three individuals will be selected for the Hall of Honorees in the year 2010. One of the individuals nominated and selected must have been engaged in the sport of rodeo prior to 1940.

NOMINATION AND SELECTION

Any Trustee of the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame (NDCHF) may submit nominations to the Executive Director of the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame. An official nomination form and good quality photo must accompany all nominations. Actual nominations may be submitted at any time, but must be postmarked on or before Saturday, January 16, 2010. Those selected for induction into the Hall of Fame Rodeo Division, when there are more than two names on the ballot, will be the two receiving the most votes. The number of inductees should not exceed the limit set by the NDCHF Board of Directors (three for year 2010). One of the individuals selected for induction in 2008 must have been engaged in the sport of rodeo prior to 1940.

AWARDS

Inductees will be announced by the NDCHF on Memorial Day Weekend, will be formally inducted on Saturday, June 26, 2010 and will have their names, photos and histories displayed in the Hall of Honorees, Ranching Division.


2010 RODEO ARENA DIVISON

The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame will honor, in its Hall of Honorees, Rodeo Arena Division, individuals who, through his/her participation in America’s only original sport, have distinguished and brought honor to themselves and the sport of rodeo as rodeo producers, stock contractors, announcers, clowns, bullfighters, pick-up men, secretaries and featured contract performers.

CRITERIA

Individuals will be recognized for their long-time involvement, promotion, production, and distinguished accomplishments in the rodeo arena as producers, stock contractors, announcers, clowns, bullfighters, pick-up men, secretaries and contract act performers. Achievement and participation in or promotion in and of rodeo and rodeo events will be recognized in high school, college state and professional rodeos. As rodeo producers and stock contractors, potential inductees will have conducted business with integrity. One Rodeo Arena inductee will be selected for the Hall of Honorees in 2010.

2010 ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT DIVISION

1 Inductee

The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame will honor, in its Hall of Honorees, Arts and Entertainment Division, individuals known for their artistry and love and, or promotion of the North Dakota western heritage and lifestyle.

CRITERIA

Nominees must be individuals who are noted for their artistic talents. These individuals by their actions will have brought credit to the western heritage or lifestyle either through performance, heritage or action. Nominees must be at least 50 years of age or deceased.

NOMINATION AND SELECTION

Any Trustee of the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame (NDCHF) may submit nominations to the Executive Director of the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame. An official nomination form and good quality photo must accompany all nominations. Actual nominations may be submitted at any time, but must be postmarked on or before January 16, 2010. The Board of Directors will screen nominations before submission to the NDCHF Trustees for a final vote. Those selected for induction into the Hall of Fame must receive the votes of at least 50 percent of the total number of Trustees casting votes. 2010 RODEO LIVESTOCK DIVISION

1 Inductee

The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame will honor in its Hall of Honorees, Rodeo Division, animals who through their participation in America’s only original sport have distinguished and brought honor to themselves and the sport of Rodeo.

CRITERIA

Individual animals will be recognized for their achievement, participation or promotion in and of rodeo and rodeo events. Recognition can be achieved through high school, college, state and professional rodeo associations. Not more than one rodeo animal will be inducted into the Hall of Fame each year.

NOMINATION AND SELECTION

Any Trustee of the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame (NDCHF) may submit nominations to the Executive Director of the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame. An official nomination form and photo will accompany all nominations. Actual nominations may be submitted at any time but must have been postmarked by January 16, 2010. The Board of Directors will screen nominations before submission to the NDCHF Trustees for a final vote. Selection for induction into the Hall of Fame will be by a majority of Trustees voting. The number of inductees in any one year should not exceed the limit set by the NDCHF Board of Directors (one for 2010).

AWARDS

The inductee will be announced by the NDCHF in July and will have its name, pictures and histories displayed in the Hall of Honorees, Rodeo Livestock Division.


2010 LEADERS OF RODEO AND RANCHING DIVISION

1 Inductee

The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame will honor in its Hall of Honorees, Leaders of Rodeo and Ranching Division, individuals who were or are instrumental in creating and developing the ranching and rodeo business, traditions and associated lifestyles of North Dakota’s Western heritage.

CRITERIA

Nominees must be individuals that have made significant contributions to the development, promotion or maintenance of Rodeo and or Ranching and have had an extensive relationship with Ranching, Rodeo and the western lifestyle. Individuals nominated for this category must be at least 50 years of age or deceased. The individual must have been actively involved in the Ranching industry and or the sport of Rodeo in a promotional or leadership capacity that provided guidance and public understanding that resulted in recognition of the horse culture of North Dakota. One individual will be selected in 2010.
