NOMINATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR 2008 HALL OF FAME INDUCTIONS
FOR RELEASE November 3, 2007
For Additional Information Darrell Dorgan 250-1833 ---NOMINATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR 2008 HALL OF FAME INDUCTIONS---
The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame Center of Western Heritage and Cultures: Native American, Ranching and Rodeo is accepting nominations for 2008 Hall of Fame Hall inductions. More than 100 individuals, events, ranches, three famed rodeo bucking horses, a nationally acclaimed bull and six ranches have been inducted in the past nine years. In 2008, seven individuals will be inducted.
NDCHF Executive Director Darrell Dorgan says nominations will be accepted until January 19, 2007, in the following categories: Pre-1940 Ranching; Modern-era Ranching and Ranches; Pre-1940, Rodeo; Modern-era Rodeo, Rodeo Arena Division; Rodeo Livestock; and Leaders of Ranching and Rodeo. There will be one inductee from the Pre-1940 Ranching, Pre-1940 Rodeo , Rodeo Arena, Rodeo Livestock, and Leaders of Ranching and Rodeo Divisions. There will be two inductees in the Modern-era Rodeo Division.
Nominations for the Hall of Fame Hall of Honorees are made through the group's 200 Trustees from across the state. Dorgan says, "If you have someone you want nominated for possible selection to the Hall of Fame, contact a local Trustee. They have the forms necessary to begin the information gathering process. Individuals can also get nominating forms directly by calling the Hall of Fame in Bismarck (701-250-1833) or Medora (701-623-2000). The nomination forms still must have Trustee approval prior to submission.
Once nominations are made, they are screened and forwarded by Trustees, and those selected will be put on the ballot. Ballots will be mailed to Trustees in May and the results announced in July. The eight selected to join the 100 plus current inductees will be formally inducted in ceremonies in Medora and Sentinel Butte on Saturday, August 2, and Sunday, August 3.
The Cowboy Hall of Fame’s Center of Western Heritage and Cultures opened in Medora in 2005. The facility is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from May to October and by appointment during the winter months. Its galleries and exhibits detail the history of the plains horse culture.
The facility is also used for meetings, reunions, weddings and other events. An attached patio provides room for more than 200 people for catered events.
Catered food and beverage service is available, and reservations are now being taken for 2008 events in Medora.
About $500,000 remains to pay off the project. Contributions for the project may be sent to The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame, 1110 College Drive #216, Bismarck, North Dakota 58501.
